Where my heart is.

Pooldemod

Home.

Where it is quiet.

Where there is laughter.

I am here.

Hi friends! Still a ton of work to be done at the new house. Construction should be wrapped up in a week and a half...I hope to be unpacked by then too. So much happening.... I will be back soon. Thank you for all of your comments! The move was as any move is...we'll be happy when it is finished. We're in the perfect house, in the perfect neighborhood...and we can't believe it is true.......

Until next time, Ciao!

Yes, there will be prizes...and a garage sale!

Tile

Not my tile....but I wish it was.

It's time to call it a day here. We're moving in 6 days. I'm sick to my stomach that things won't be finished. I was listening to the people who insist on using the instersection immediately outisde the apartment as the starting line to their illegal drag racing last night and I can safely say that I pretty much don't care what condition the house is in next Saturday. At last it will be quiet! (Until the pool jackhammering starts...)

So stay tuned my friends. Put the Land of Lost Luggage in your feed list.. When I come back, there will be a blog giveaway (one of the prizes will be a brand new set of these beauties!) and for all you rubber stampers...a HUGE stamp garage sale! How does 10 wood mounted stamps for $20 sound? I am pretty sure that I will be setting up the stamps in lots of 10 and putting them in my etsy shop. No auctions...first come first serve.

I'll miss you all while I am gone...and I am not sure when I will be back..I also don't want to set a date and have to rush myself crazy into getting the contest up. So...set up the feed- here is a tutorial on how to do it if you have been waiting for the right moment.

See you on the other side! Stay cool, San Diego.

Hey hey summer!

Taking a small break this afternoon to check our weather report...I like the weather. I read it all the time. It's exciting to see the National Weather Service make a bold red "Special Statement" in our area (exciting to me anyway...)

VERY HOT WEATHER TO CONTINUE THROUGH SATURDAY...
STRONG HIGH PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE HOT WEATHER WITH NEAR RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURES THROUGH SATURDAY. TEMPERATURES WILL BE 10 TO 15 DEGREES ABOVE AVERAGE IN THE VALLEYS... MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS. COASTAL ZONES WILL BE SPARED THE MOST INTENSE HEAT DUE TO THE COOL OCEAN BREEZES EACH AFTERNOON.

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING WILL BE IN EFFECT SATURDAY FOR THE INLAND VALLEYS AND THE LOWER DESERTS. A WEAK LOW PRESSURE TROUGH WILL BRING SLIGHTLY COOLER WEATHER EARLY NEXT WEEK.

HIGH TEMPERATURE FORECASTS FOR SATURDAY...
BEACHES 70 TO 80.

COASTAL ZONES 80 TO 95.

INLAND VALLEYS 95 TO 110. (I am here)

MOUNTAINS 80 TO 95.

HIGH DESERTS 100 TO 105.

LOWER DESERTS 112 TO 120.

PEOPLE PLANNING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES SHOULD TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THE HOT WEATHER AND ADJUST ACTIVITIES ACCORDINGLY. AVOID PHYSICAL EXERTION DURING THE HOTTEST PART OF THE DAY. WEAR LOOSE FITTING LIGHT WEIGHT CLOTHING AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SHADE AND AIR CONDITIONING IF AVAILABLE. NEVER LEAVE PEOPLE OR PETS IN ENCLOSED AUTOMOBILES.

Caramba....excellent weather for heavy labor in the house. Hope you're having a good weekend!

When will there be art art?

Orchid2

Hi. This picture has nothing to do with my post; I only put it here so you would have something nice to look at.

The agonizing chore of picking the right paint color for the house has ended. The winner is: Behr, "Sandstone Cove"...a close second was Frazee's "Plumb Absence Black" which is only a color an artist would understand...as well as "Eddie" who was standing by to confirm my inner voice that was saying, "You're right, Julie...there is a hint of purple in there." The color will fit in with the new bathrooms...the new floors..everything. It is neutral without looking like builder's beige. I am happy with it.

The last house had some color in it, but I decided to keep this house uniform at the get go in hopes of being able to showcase some of the art/glass I have collected....all which has been packed away for oh so long...over one year!

All of the major stuff is ordered and in the garage or in route...some things will not be ready for several more weeks but I am really excited to be on the 10 day to moving count down!

More good news arrived today as the pool dudes had an opening in their schedule and they can start our job earlier than expected! Now only if I can get the lawn to come back...... (Since the house was vacant so long, the lush landscaping we saw 6 months ago is gone...but it's the least of my worries at the moment.)

It's a long journey and very stressful....(I've lost 6 pounds since escrow closed) but I wouldn't give up any of this for settling on a house with less work. We love the house and are so excited! Thanks for reading along on my journey...now when can you come over to help paint?

You are here.

You are here journal page

Many of you have been asking for pictures of our new house. Without further adieu, I give you my new kitchen:

Prichard kitchen

Do you love it? This picture pretty much speaks the condition of the entire house at the moment...if not worse. What you don't see here are that there are no bathrooms (although I am assured they are coming along nicely) and no floors (also which I am assured are coming along nicely).

Me oh my...was that exciting golf this weekend or what? What fantastic entertainment....really fantastic. It is not often that you see an event with such amazing sportsmanship!

I'm back to picking out paint....and making appointments...see you later! Thanks for coming by!

Weekend Research: Home Depot

Lomokatettv

I don't photoshop like this often enough...photos like this are what sparked my photoshop addiction a few months ago. Check out the collage that re-inspired me to dust off the keyboard...

I'm off to home depot for something...not sure what, but I am sure I need it. Have a good Saturday!

Amazing possibilities...

Amazing inside

I sit in bed every morning dreaming about everything that we have been through in the last year...everything that we started out to do is quickly wrapping up. We're moving in on the 28th...will I miss the traffic noise outside my apartment window? Nope. That's for sure...I hope I can get to sleep in the "quiet" of the new house. The US Open starts today...there is no onsite parking at Torrey Pines...everyone has to park a couple of blocks down the street from me and take a bus to the course. Delightful.

Tile is arriving today, appliances soon, window coverings, furniture, flooring...everything is in process. Now I am a lot less stressed and starting to enjoy the process a little better. I"ve even had a little free time to throw some paint around.

Thank you for stopping by today!

I spend time wondering...

10yearsfrom now

I spend time wondering what my life will be like 10 years from now.... do you?

Please enjoy.

Every once in a while I play with heavy body acrylics....I love the versitility of the paints and was able to get a great score of them on ebay a while ago. This page is slathered in gold paint.

Hope you're having a great week! I have new admiration for the people who sell tile....what a mess. I spent so much time picking out and agonizing over the tile (two bathrooms, kitchen, dining room) only to find out that it would not be available until July. No good.. Sigh. So I went back to the tile place and had to reselect everything and by the time I finished, the warehouse was closed...so I will find out this morning if the second batch of tile will work for us. I hope it does...those people are going to kill me! I am ready to have the contractor pour concrete through the house and call it a day. With all of these details all over the place I have not even given thought to what will go into the new art studio.....I'm fine with that. I just want the hell out of this apartment. I'm sure I can design the studio pretty quickly.

The back feels better....but not 100% yet. Most of the pain comes when I am sitting..I'm doing a lot of stretching and standing to help get better quickly. I apologize if my comments and emails seem short.

See you soon!
