I have a passion for making backgrounds... it started in my rubber stamp design team days and is still running rampant today.
As soon as I caught wind of art journaling, I searched high and low for every background making tutorial I could find. Exhibit A (Above): one of my first ventures with acrylic paint.
Exhibit B: Fast forward a couple of years and a much happier Julie. Layering, texture, composition... and FUN. Learning how to interpret techniques and adapt them into your own style... what a great ride. I love that this crusade took us down memory lane.
Thank you, Michelle...and YOU head over to the Street Team blog and knock yourself off today!

It's always such fun to visit with you Julie!! Isn't it amazing how much we change without noticing till we look back? I thoroughly enjoyed your post for the Team challenge, watching the speedpainting vids is always enjoyable and makes me want to paint again! I think you have a great talent for vlogging - and the soundtrack is awesome! xo
PS - Looking forward to Supernova... ;o)

julie - thanks for sharing this with the team! it's a perfect example of charting growth. look how much you've taught yourself by Just Doing It, and how much you have evolved girl! AND now you are imparting your knowledge and enthusiasm to others (here and in your workshops) in order to encourage their own self expression and creativity. THAT rocks.

I need to take a cue from you to just GO FOR IT and write on top of my pretty papers. I do scan occasionally to use them in digital compositions.
But your work just has so much depth. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hello Julie,
I'm really glad you evolved and that you share your love for layers now !
I'm still catching up on the layerloveclass and I really, really love the layers.
I practiced the first one and then the second one, the blue-green one, my colors... so I did a second practice with these colors and then I did 20 pages !
I'm into a pageswap and I wanted this background for my "vintage" pages. I learned a lot practicing these lesson and you can hardly believe how happy I am with the results. I even ripped paper of my wall to use in the background...:)
If you want to see the result : I made a post about it on my blog. Feel free to pass by.
Anyway, it's time to give the third lesson a try !
thanks and greetings from Belgium
Inge

Hi Julie. Isn't it amazing to look back and see how much has changed? I like the writing in the second one - I have tried to do that but never seem to get it right. So now I just admire other people's work :-)
